This course is for those who work, live or play in remote areas that may be more than one hour away from EMS service. Even though the emergency workers near these areas may be trained to search for and rescue those in need, there may be a delay in the notification of assistance, the time required to get to the patient, or in moving the patient to more advanced treatment. It expands the concepts in Basic First Aid and gives more detailed information and hands-on skills practice.

Every student who participates in a Heart Smart course is given the materials and skills necessary for certification as well as a wonderful experience learning about situations that are stressful and difficult. We teach in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere and we teach our students how to relax and handle emergencies in a calm and responsible way. If students leave First Aid class with a sense of fear, they'll project that fear into the emergency. Our instructors use music and video along with team practice and positive feedback. For students, this creates a sense of accomplishment and confidence in their skills. They'll leave with self confidence and secure in their ability to handle any disaster or crisis.
Students must complete all 16 hours of the class to be certified.
